2022 World Thinking Day Event Update

Our hope in August was to have an in-person World Thinking Day event in 2022. Unfortunately, current guidelines for Girl Scouts River Valleys (GSRV) means that an in-person gathering for this traditional event is not possible this year.

Here are some resources and options to celebrate one of the best events all year, World Thinking Day (WTD)!

1) The Minneapolis Lakes Service Unit has invited Lakeville Girl Scouts to join in a virtual WTD event! There are lots of cool options to celebrate this international day of friendship.

Dates:  Feb 11-Feb 12, 2022 and Feb 18, 2022    Location: ZOOM
CostOption 1) $5 / participant for sessions + patch
Option 2) $15 / participant for sessions + patch + WTD Bag containing goodies and crafts from around the world (available to GSRV Council only)

For more information on this virtual event and to register click HERE

2) Has your troop prepared a display or created SWAP's? If yes, please contact Kim at to share what your troop has done. We will offer ways for troops to share what they've learned

3) Complete your troop specific level requirements to earn a WTD patch!

Is your Girl Scout or troop working on a Service Award?

In addition to the Silver and Gold Awards, Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors (grades 6-12) have a special opportunity to earn two different type of service awards:

Community Service to Girl Scouts

This award is earned when a girl/troop completes 20 hours of volunteer service to Lakeville Girl Scouts. Volunteer Service can include:

  • Volunteering at a Lakeville Service Unit Event (Daisy Days, Cookie Rally, World Thinking Day)
  • Helping another younger troop/girl with an activity or badge
  • Help develop and lead an event (small or big) for girls in the Lakeville Service Unit

Girls/troops keep track of their service hours "on their honor" on this form.

Community Service to Community

This awards requires a minimum of 20 hours of volunteer service in an area of interest for the girl/troop. There is an online form the needs to be completed prior to volunteer service for our council Girl Scouts River Valleys to approve the non-profit charity or cause where the girls will perform the service.

Once the non-profit is approved, volunteer hours can be tracked on this log.
